Our PTA

Our PTA is made up of hard-working parents & teachers who pool their talents to provide practical support for our school. Those listed below volunteered to provide leadership this year. Get to know their names and faces, and feel free to ask them if you have questions.

PTA BOARD POSITIONS

 

PTA PRESIDENT
 
VP TREASURER
Local PTA Presiding officer. Directs the affairs of the association in cooperation with the other members of the executive board. Distributes all materials to the appropriate officer or chair.
SKILLS: organized, well prepared.
TIME: Presides over monthly board meetings and membership meetings, working with team members, 5 hours/week.
WHERE: Home and school

 

  PTA Bookkeeper. Monthly upkeep of books, checks, deposits, etc.
TIME: Attends monthly Exec Board meetings and all PTA Meetings. August Spirit Sale Reconciliation is biggest one-time project
SKILLS: Bookkeeping, accounting, organization, time management

VP COMMUNICATIONS
 
VP FUNDRAISING
Lead PTA’s communications - maintain/update PTA website + school Facebook page; coordinate quarterly print newsletter.
SKILLS: Proofing, detail-oriented, people skills
TIME: Attend monthly board, all PTA Meetings, couple hours per month working with team members.
WHERE: Home and school
  Lead PTA’s fundraising efforts; oversee programs and chairs: community partners, spirit nights, Jingle for Jackson, Spirit Wear, School Supplies and other fundraising efforts.
SKILLS: Sales & marketing, fundraising, people skills, communications.
TIME: Attend monthly board meetings and all PTA Meetings, couple hours per month working with team members.

VP SECRETARY
 
VP MEMBERSHIP
Keeping PTA records, taking notes, and collecting copies of documents presented at each meeting. Minutes and handouts are filed in a records book and kept until the end of the academic year.
SKILLS: Good at taking notes.
TIME: Attend monthly board, all PTA Meetings, plus a half hour per month.
WHERE: Home and school
  Lead school effort to recruit members. Oversee school directory.
SKILLS:Bilingual would be ideal, Organization, communication
TIME: Attend monthly board meetings, all PTA Meetings.

VP VOLUNTEERS
   
Recruit and schedule volunteers for as needed.
SKILLS: Sales & marketing, people skills, communications
TIME: Attend monthly board meetings , all PTA Meetings, couple hours per month working with team members, grade level coordinators, scheduling events using SignUp Genius.

PTA CHAIR POSITIONS

 

PARTY PLANNER ORGANIZER
 
UP + ACTIVE DAY CHAIR
Plan and organize annual Family Picnic in Spring & Fall. TIME: Planning time + event host in September and April.
SKILLS: Organized, people friendly, creative
SUMMARY: Event can be simple (bring your own picnic) or elaborate (Bike Rally or Carnival) your choice
  Work with Coach McMillan to organize and coordinate annual Up & Active (Field Day).
TIME: Team planning - couple hours a month in March & April plus all day at event.
SKILLS: Organized, people friendly, creative.
WHERE: Home and school
GRADE COORDINATORS
 
SPANISH MEMBER LIAISON
Assists teacher/team leads as requested with workroom projects, coordinate and communicate room mothers and volunteers for workroom jobs, plan class parties, grade activities and teacher assistance/special projects. Shoot and/or collect photos from grade events.
TIME: Couple of hours or more a month depending upon the number of volunteers and projects.
SKILLS: Communication, organization, planning.

  ¡MUY IMPORTANTE!
Bilingual parent to bridge the Spanish speaking community to Jackson PTA. Help Spanish speaking parents feel comfortable and involved with PTA by communicating and sharing information. Attend all PTA meetings.
SKILLS: Spanish English Bilingual, people skills
TIME: Up to a couple hours a month

FUNDRAISER TEAM MEMBER
 
SPIRIT WEAR
Help raise money for Jackson’s PTA. Talk to companies about donations, grants, research opportunities. Plan McTeacher + Skate Night. SKILLS: Fundraising, people skills, communications, creativity TIME: Couple of hours per month or per project WHERE: Home and school   Design & Ordering: Working with vender, select annual design & products to be ordered – working within budget. Create order forms, collect funds, order and facilitate student delivery.
TIME: Launch at the beginning of school and again in spring for Up+Active. Report to Fundraising.

YEARBOOK SALES
 
YEARBOOK PRODUCTION
Sell and distribute yearbooks the last week of school (cash & carry). Organize effort with help from other volunteers   Design (computerized - StudioWorks) and edit annual yearbook. Take photos at school events and collect photos from other parents, liaison with publisher.

STUDENT DIRECTORY/ HANDBOOK
 
LIBRARY COORDINATOR
Input write-in directory entries.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Word & Excel. Report to VP Membership.

Assist Library staff in a fun atmosphere.
BOOK FAIR APPRENTICE
 
WEBSITE/FACEBOOK
Shadow 2022 co-chairs so you can take over 2023 TIME:  Approx 2-3 hrs/month in Sept/Oct/Nov. Approx 7 hrs/day during setup and the sale itself.

 

Keep PTA content current. Advertise events. Coordinate with VP Communications.

AUDIT COMMITTEE TEAM MEMBER
 
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Serve on PTA’s annual audit committee
SKILLS:Teamwork, ability to follow directions, attention to detail.
TIME: About 8 hours in June
WHERE: Location determined by team
  Obtain list of school supplies from team leads for next year. Bid out supplies from several vendors. Coordinate with outside vendor. Work with Team Leads and Volunteer Coordinator to have people at school when the supplies arrive August 2018.
CLUB SPONSOR
 
 
Liaison with after school enrichment program (DramaKids + Young Rembrandts). Must attend weekly sessions.
