
The PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) is the parent organization for the District. The PTA is a national partner of public education, bringing into closer relation the home and the school to cooperate in the education of children and youth.

President
Local PTA Presiding Officer. Directs the affairs of the association in cooperation with other members of the executive board. Distributes all materials to the appropriate officer or chair. Skills: organized, well prepared. Time: Presides over monthly board meetings and membership meetings, working with team members, 5-10 hours a week. Where: home and school
1st VP Communications
Lead PTA’s Communications. Oversees chair positions for yearbook, Facebook, and Website. Coordinate with VPs in the printing and distribution of various flyers. Skills: Proofing, detail oriented, people skills. Time: Attend monthly board, all PTA Meetings, couple of hours a month working with team members. Where: Home and School
2nd VP Volunteers
Recruit and schedule volunteers as needed for events throughout year. Skills: Communication and “people person”. Time: Attend monthly board meetings, all PTA Meetings, 1-3 hours a month working with team members, grade level coordinators, scheduling events using SignUp Genius. Where: Home and School.
3rd VP Ways and Means (Fundraising)
Lead PTA’s fundraising efforts; oversee programs and chairs: community partner spirit nights, Spirit Wear, School Supplies and other fundraising efforts. Skills: Sales and marketing, fundraising, people skills, communications. Time: Attend monthly board, all PTA meetings and all PTA Meetings, depending on project will determine actual hours spent on this position. Where: Home and School
4th VP Events and Programs
Oversee and coordinate all educational and after school programs. Skills: Organized Time: Attend monthly board meetings and all PTA Meetings. Where: Home and School
5th VP Membership
Lead school effort to recruit members. File membership reports with TEXAS PTA and make sure dues are paid. Skills: Organization and communication Time: Attend monthly board meetings, all PTA Meetings Where: Home and School
Secretary
Keeping PTA records, taking notes and collecting copies of documents presented at each meeting. Minutes and handouts are filed in a records book and kept until the end of the academic year. Skills: Good at taking notes Time: Attend monthly board meetings and all PTA Meetings, plus 1 hour a month. Where: Home and School
Treasurer
PTA Bookkeeper. Monthly upkeep of books, checks, deposits Time: Attends monthly Exec Board Meetings and all PTA Meetings, 1-2 hours a week. Skills: Bookkeeping, accounting, organization, time management Where: Home and School
